Channel 4 has concluded its first of LA Screenings deal picking up Big Bang Theory from Warner Brothers International.
One of the few pure comedy series launched at the Screenings, it follows Leonard and Sheldon, two brilliant theoretical physicists whose lives are changed when a free-spirited beauty, Penny, moves in next door.
Under the Warner Bros deal C4 also renewed the rights to broadcast the next two seasons of drama One Tree Hill on C4 and E4 while More4 will continue to hold exclusive rights to drama The Closer.
The acquisitions were secured by Channel 4 and Film 4 director of acquisitions Jeff Ford.
Warner Bros International Television president Jeffrey R Schlesinger said: " Big Bang Theory was one of the most highly sought-after comedies at this year's LA Screenings, and we are excited to be partnering with C4 in the U.K. for the premiere of this funny and insightful mass-appeal series that will play to all demographics."
