Homer to promote C4

The producers of The Simpsons have created a 30-second animated version of Channel 4's brand ident featuring Homer Simpson.

In Gracie Films' trail, produced in association with 20th Century Fox, Homer goes to relax in his hammock but accidentally catapults his six pack of beers into overhead electricity pylons.

As he clings to the tree stretching to reach the beers, he electrocutes himself with each attempt to unhook them.

In a mirror of other C4 creatives that feature the logo in locations such as cornfields and high-rise estates, a night-time view of the sky reveals a giant '4' of flickering and short circuiting town lights glowing in the centre of the town's grid.

The film is C4's only programme-specific ident and will debut next weekend before the channel's first run of The Simpsons' 14th season.

C4 head of marketing Rufus Radcliffe said: "We are very proud of our Channel identity and it's testament to it that Gracie Films wanted to work their most iconic brand into that creative concept to promote The Simpsons on Channel 4."
