Emmerdale secured another victory over EastEnders in the ratings on Thursday night.
The latest hour-long edition of the Yorkshire-set soap drew an average of 5.49m (28.5%) to ITV1 in the 7pm hour. Although Emmerdale finished first, the BBC soap had a higher reach overall when figures for its BBC Three repeat - 1.15m (7.3%) at 10pm - are included. The two soaps will next go head-to-head this Tuesday (September 23).

ITV1 interested 2.48m (11.9%) with the prospect of Ann Widdecombe versus Girl Gangs, leaving BBC One with 2.34m (11.2%) for The Undercover Soldier.
Five had a strong primetime performance thanks to coverage of two Uefa Cup games. The first, Portsmouth's face-off against Portugal's Vitoria Guimaraes, averaged 1.3m (7.3%) between 5.55pm and 8pm, then coverage of Everton vs. Standard Liege had an impressive 2.07m (9.9%) until 10.10pm.
