Wire in the Blood finished its sixth series with a strong 4.47m (21.2%) on Friday night.
The Robson Green drama has averaged 4.81m (22.4%) across its eight episodes, down only slightly on the 5.1m average for the last series, which aired over four weeks in 90-minute instalments on Wednesday nights.
BBC One's Have I Got News For You averaged 5.07m (23.4%) at 9pm, on par with last week, then Little Britain USA amused 3.21m (15.7%). On Channel 4, Gordon Ramsay's Cookalong Live lost 600,000 on last week's strong opener to average 1.91m (9%) in the 9pm hour. The concluding part of BBC Two's The American Future: A History, By Simon Schama drew 1.65m (7.8%) and on Five, NCIS interested 1.13m (5.4%).
Two episodes of Coronation Street brought in 8.6m (41.6%) and 8.38m (38%) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively. EastEnders notched up 8.34m (39.1%) for BBC One and Emmerdale had 6.49m (33.7%). Friday Hollyoaks put in 1.56m (8.2%) for Channel 4 at 6.30pm (+1: 96,000, 0.5%).
Mastermind drew a reliable 2.24m (10.5%) to BBC Two at 8pm, while on ITV1, a Tonight report on people benefiting from the credit crunch interested 3.31m (15.5%). At 8.30pm, After You've Gone amused 3.16m (14.3%) on BBC One and BBC Two's Gardeners' World was seen by 2.01m (9.1%).
Five's Police Interceptors picked up 1.33m (6.1%) for the 8pm hour, outrating Channel 4's A Place In The Sun: Home Or Away, which had 1.15m (5.3%) over the same period.
ITV1's primetime share was 25.3% (last week: 25.4%) while BBC One averaged out at 21.3% (22%). BBC Two had 8.6% (8.3%), followed by Channel 4 on 6.4% (6.9%) and Five on 5% (5.3%).
A screening of Bond movie Die Another Day was a huge hit for ITV2, pulling in 988,000 (6.6%) between 9pm and 11.45pm and 153,000 (1.4%) on timeshift. ITV2's primetime share jumped to 3.4% and ITV2+1 averaged 0.4%.
The final episode of E4's Dead Set averaged 515,000 (3.1%) at 10pm, with 137,000 (1.3%) more on timeshift. Across its five episodes, the horror drama has averaged 826,000 (5.2%) for E4, up five-fold on the slot average.
Also popular on Hallowe'en night was the final edition of Most Haunted Live: The Village of The Damned on Living. An average of 497,000 (3.2%) tuned in between 8pm and midnight, lifting the channel's primetime share to 2.2%. Across seven consecutive nights, the 28 hours of live broadcast averaged 372,000 (2.3%) for Living and 69,000 (0.6%) for its timeshift companion.
