JK Rowling doc leads ITV autumn schedule

ITV1 viewers will this autumn see the moment JK Rowling completed the final instalment of Harry Potter in a documentary about the author.

Rowling allowed TV cameras into her life for the first time for A Year In The Life ...JK Rowling.

The Rowling show is part of an ITV1 autumn lineup featuring factual programmes such as The Iraq War by Numbers, fronted by Rageh Omaar, and Alzheimer's documentary Malcolm and Barbara: Love's Farewell.

Costume drama is represented by a new version of EM Forster's classic, A Room With A View, and The Old Curiosity Shop, starring Sir Derek Jacobi.

Other ITV1 autumn dramas include My Boy Jack, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall, and a modern-day version of Frankenstein.

Although ITV has beefed up its factual output, it will still air its blockbusting entertainment hits this autumn.

The X Factor returns, along with I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Musician Elton John also appears in a musical journey through his life called Elton John: Me, Myself and I.

In sport, ITV1 has Formula 1 and the Rugby World Cup. ITV also announced today it has signed an exclusive deal with Amir Khan for his next big fights.

ITV's director of television, Simon Shaps, said: "Talent is what makes ITV tick and this season we will more than deliver."
