Wire in the Blood attracts 6 million


Robson Green's drama Wire in the Blood made a successful return to ITV1 last night, pulling in nearly 6 million viewers.

The drama, which features Green as a clinical psychologist, attracted 5.9 million viewers and a 27% share between 9pm and 10.30pm, according to unofficial overnights.

Wire in the Blood beat a Who Do You Think You Are? special on BBC1 in which broadcaster Nicky Campbell unearthed details of his adoptive family, which picked up 4.1 million viewers and a 19% share across an hour from 9pm.

Big Brother pulled in 3.7 million viewers and a 17% share to Channel 4 across an hour at 9pm while the seventh episode of HBO drama co-production Rome pulled in 1.6 million and a 7% share for BBC2 in the same slot.

Channel Five's movie repeat Collateral Damage scored 1.4 million viewers and a 7% share between 9pm and 11.10pm.

The fifth episode of Channel 4's American drama Brothers and Sisters pulled in 1.3 million viewers and a 7% share across an hour from 10pm while BBC1's 10 O'Clock News picked up 4.5 million and a 22% share.

A repeat of Never Mind the Buzzcocks on BBC2 attracted 1.4 million viewers and a 7% share at 10pm.

The start of three-part series The Alastair Campbell Diaries pulled in 1.3 million viewers and a 7% share to BBC2 from 8pm; although ITV1's The Bill was the slot winner with 5.8 million and a 29% share.

Earlier, the third outing for the new series of BBC1's The One Show attracted 2.7 million viewers and a 17% share at 7pm although it was roundly beaten by ITV1's Emmerdale, which pulled in 6.1 million viewers and a 37% share.
