The relaunch of The Hits as 4Music got off to a cracking start last Friday with an all hours share of 0.41%, more than the total combined audience of all the MTV-branded channels.
Across the entire day, the C4 and Bauer music venture gained a multichannel share of 0.41%, making it the most popular dedicated music channel of the day.
4Music has the advantage of a Freeview slot and comfortably outperformed pay channel MTV One, which had a share 0.10%. Its timeshifted option managing 0.02%. The entire MTV family of channels – which includes MTV Two, Base and Dance had a combined audience share of 0.33%.
TMF, the MTV Networks-owned channel, managed an all hours share of 0.27%. Like 4Music, it has a Freeview slot.
4Music kicked off at 7pm with Davina and Steve's 20 Big Ones which picked up the channel's highest audience of the day with 193,000 (1.31%) at the start. The entire two hour show averaged 105,000 (0.63%). The premiere of Kylie Minogue's recent gig at the O2 arena dazzled 127,000 (0.71%) for 90-minutes.
4Music continued to make an impression the following day with its exclusive coverage from the V Festival. Over the entire day the channel scooped up an all hours share of 0.37%. Its audience peaked with 92,000 (0.49%) at 9.30pm for 15 minutes with sets from the Stereophonics and Jamie T.
